ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SAFETY MANAGEMENT

Langstone Harbour Board, as the Duty Holder for Langstone Harbour, is committed to complying with the Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC).

The PMSC aims to promote best practice in the ports industry. A Guide to Good Practice for Port Marine Operations has also been developed and this, together with competence standards being developed for port marine personnel, is intended to assist Harbour authorities in implementing the requirements of the code.

Each year the Port's Designated Person carries out an audit of PMSC compliance which is reported back to the Board and identifies areas for development as well as areas of best practice already in place.
